About Denise

I was born and lived in California most of my life and have been doing genealogy for half of it. My father’s mother’s family was (and mostly still is) a mystery because she died when my father was nine months old. He grew up in California with his father, stepmother and sisters.

With DNA testing I have figured out that her mother was probably of French-Canadian ancestry, but other than that we know very little.

  1. Denise: I found that John Rhea’s wife was Sarah “Sally” Harris, not Sally Scales. Her father was Peter Harris. His mother is reported to be a Glenn. All we know for certain is that her first name was Honour. That definitely explains where the Harris and Glenn in our PV Rhea’s moniker could have come from. I have a DNA test in progress through Ancestry.com. It is autosomal DNA. It will be interesting to see what it may or may not reveal.

    1. Do you have any sources for Sarah Harris’s parents? Other Rhea/Rea researchers and I have been trying to investigate the Rea/Rhea family of Grainger County, Tennessee as a possible family for John Rhea born about 1772.

  2. Oops! Peter Harris’ wife was Honour, not his mother. We don’t have a last name for her and, as I said previously, researchers report that it is believed that Peter’s mother was a Glenn.
